CPTED ASSESMENT
Florida House Bill 837 (HB 837) Compliance and CPTED Protection for Multifamily Properties
Under Florida House Bill 837 (HB 837), multifamily residential property owners who implement specific Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) measures gain important protections against liability for third-party criminal acts on their properties. By completing a documented CPTED assessment conducted by an approved practitioner or law enforcement agency, property owners can achieve "presumption against liability," as outlined in Florida Statute 768.0706(2).
RATES ARE BASED ON THE FOLLOWING:
-
Property Size and Complexity: Larger properties or those with multiple buildings and common areas (e.g., parking lots, pools, playgrounds) typically require more time and resources to assess.
-
Assessment Scope: A basic CPTED assessment focused on compliance may cost less, while a more comprehensive evaluation addressing multiple security layers or custom recommendations can increase the price.
